Elon is out to get you

Letā€™s gooo! Itā€™s Friday! The weekend is almost here which means a break from the screens for many ā€” and thatā€™s great. Itā€™s important to take breaks and recharge, spend time with loved ones and focus on yourself.

My weekend will be spent outside. This week has been rough in terms of Twitter for me personally. I published a Pudgy Penguin thread and it didnā€™t do too well. Engagement has dropped this week even though I have been going harder than before... I am going to take my time away, recharge and come back after the weekend with a new motivation to grind it out.

Anyway, before the weekend hits, hereā€™s this weekā€™s Growth Guide šŸ‘

Elon is out to get you

The worst thing to happen to stunt your growth is getting a Shadowban. Twitter has made its algorithm publicly available. However, they remain very firm that they do not hand out shadowbans but we know better.

From the start of 2023 until April 2023 I have been shadowbanned 8 times. Can you guess how many times Iā€™ve been shadowbanned since April 1st?

Zero.

I have figured out the formula and the reasons why people get shadowbanned. Iā€™ve also helped people lift their shadowbans succesfully within 24 hours.

Letā€™s look at the main 9 reasons you get shadowbanned on Twitter:

Violating Twitter's rules

If you violate Twitter's rules by engaging in spammy or abusive behaviour, you are sure to get a shadowban. GM-culture doesnā€™t help here. Try to space out your GMs.

Using banned hashtags

If you use a hashtag that is banned on Twitter, your account can get shadowbanned. Itā€™s also been encoded in the algorithm that two or more hashtags give you a deboost. Hashtags are for Web2 people and boomers.

Low-quality content

Twitter's algorithms penalises consistently low-quality or unengaging content. If you post multiple times a day but you get no likes, say bye bye to Twitter for a while.

Following or unfollowing too aggressively

Nobody knows the exact numbers but I would recommend unfollowing a maximum of

šŸ‘‰1% of the people you follow daily

šŸ‘‰ 50 accounts

Engaging with people who donā€™t engage back

This is the reason I stopped replying to people that donā€™t follow me. Interact with cold accounts and youā€™ll soon be on a forced break.

Using automation tools

NFT Twitter loves these. Premint, Alphabot, Twitter verifications, multiple toolsā€¦ Elon is trying to keep Twitter for itself. That means as little outside engagement as possible.

Using multiple accounts

NFTs makes us use alt-accounts for raffles and giveaways. Being logged into multiple accounts over a longer period is a bad idea. Itā€™s so over for you.

Posting too frequently

This can easily get flagged as spammy behaviour. Once youā€™re flagged itā€™ll be hard to get rid of it. There is no absolute metric for this since itā€™s ā€œokayā€ if your posts have high engagement. If they donā€™t, focus on quality over quantity.

Posting links

This is a no-go. Elon wants the engagement here so under no circumstances post links to other websites. No newsletters, no medium articles, no google searches. Stay here.

So what should we do?

Quite simple, follow these steps, pay attention and think rationally. Elon wants you there so donā€™t redirect people away from Twitter. The Algorithmā€™s focus is also on ā€œHigh-qualityā€ content so this is what we do, we create high-quality content.

Thread Curation: Best of Web3

Itā€™s been a busy week on Twitter with a lot of news going around. Memecoins feels as if they have passed and the attention shifted to Bitcoin Ordinals. Hereā€™s my personal curated list of the 5 best threads. Read those and grow your knowledge. Some absolute bangers this week.

šŸ”¹ Bitcoin Ordinals by Wale

šŸ”¹ Crypto gains by Dami

šŸ”¹ Cash Grabs by Lamboland

šŸ”¹ News Recap by Elena

šŸ”¹This weekā€™s highlight: Twitter Algorithm by NFT GOD

NFT GOD constructed a thread on the freshly released Twitter Algorithm updates and what it means for the way in which tweets are ranked.

One of the most interesting features of this thread was that it was a ā€œlive threadā€. NFT GOD posted 3 tweets at first and kept digging further as he found out more information. I will be following trends to see whether we find more of these live threads.
