Mastering Your Twitter Terrain

Niche vs Broad

read time 4 minutes

Let’s gooo! It’s Friday! The weekend is almost here and I’m all for it.

This week I has been a week of optimisation & efficiency. I’ve focussed on creating a streamlined process to create content. Started using Notion more intensively to curate all my content and started integrating AI into my workflow. This will leave me more time to focus on creating partnerships and bringing value to the Growth Guide Community in other ways.

One thing I am exploring is a second newsletter (maybe every Wednesday). In this edition I would like to give you practical tools to grow (tweet templates, thread templates) that you could implement right away. Would love to hear your thoughts or ideas. Feel free to reply to this email 🤝

Let’s grow together.

Anyway, before the weekend hits, here’s this week’s Growth Guide.

🌱 Mastering your Twitter Terrain

One of the most important questions every creator should ask themselves when starting out is: “Should I specialize in one niche or keep my content broad to cast a wider net for followers?” It's a strategic dilemma that every Twitter creator has to deal with at some point. Finding the sweet spot can set you on a path to building an engaged, loyal following. Messing up can have disastrous implications.

Phase 1: The Exploration

One strategy that has proved effective involves starting with a wide lens. In the initial phase of your Twitter journey, focus on keeping your content broad. Dip your toes into various topics that align with your interests and watch your audience's reactions closely. Which topics ignite conversations? Which tweets capture the most engagement? This is your testing ground. Your goal is to collect as much data and feedback as possible.

Phase 2: The Specialization

As patterns emerge from your broad content experiment, it's time to narrow your focus. Double down on the topics that resonate with your audience. Maybe your tweets about emerging tech trends create ripples, or perhaps it's your personal insights into digital marketing that light up your notifications. Whichever niche grabs attention, that's your golden ticket. Double down, post more, and watch your niche community grow.

Broad vs Niche

While broad content can initially attract more eyes to your profile, the ties these followers form with your brand may be weaker. They appreciate your variety, but their connection may not be strong enough to guarantee consistent engagement.

In contrast, followers who find you through your niche content tend to form incredibly strong ties. They're here for the specific value you offer. These followers are more likely to engage, stick around, and become active members of your Twitter community.

Striking a Balance

Striking the balance between broad and niche content is the key to creating a solid following. Starting broad gives you room to experiment and gauge audience reactions. Once you've identified what works, narrowing down on that niche helps build a strong, engaged community. Embrace the broad, specialize the niche, and watch your Twitter grow.

📚 Thread Curation: Best of Web3

It’s been a busy week on Twitter with a lot of news going around. It’s been a turbulent week especially with the news around Elena and her Ordinals collection. Here’s my personal curated list of the 5 best threads. Read those and grow your knowledge. Some absolute bangers this week.

🔹 This week’s highlight: Working in Web3

My good friend Alex wrote a banger this week. Follow him if you haven’t.

Going full time Web3 is a dream for many of us but where do you even start? In this thread Alex highlights a good amount of web3 job opportunities. Great read.

🕊️ Growth Guide: Community

This will be our new recurring segment where we feature one of our readers that has accomplished something, deserves a shoutout or has supported the Growth Guide or zaimiri on Twitter significantly.

Let’s kick it off with a special feature this week: Web3 Bandit.

Bandit was one of the first supporters of The Growth Guide and it’s time to give back. Bandit writes a newsletter every Sunday called “Blockchain Bounty” (A+ branding btw bounty/bandit theme).

In the Blockchain Bounty he dives head first into all news surround web3. Would highly recommend subscribing to keep up to date.

I hope you enjoyed this edition! Have a wonderful weekend and don’t forget to grow.
